How to trade Bybit futures

USDT perpetuals — from deposit to first position, stop-loss / take-profit, position management and rebate checks, in the exact order you'll see on screen.

01

Deposit USDT

You can't fund futures with fiat directly, so first buy USDT (Tether) on a local exchange and send it to Bybit.

  • Log in → [Assets] → [Deposit] → pick USDT
  • Network: TRC20 (cheap, fast — most people use this) or ERC20 (safer but higher fees)
  • Copy the deposit address exactly and paste it in the other exchange's withdrawal screen
  • First withdrawals can be delayed 24–72 hours by local KYC / travel rules.
⚠️ Picking the wrong network permanently loses your funds. Send TRC20 to TRC20, ERC20 to ERC20. Send a small test transfer first.
02

Spot → Derivatives transfer

Fresh deposits land in the [Spot wallet]. You can't trade futures until you move them: [Assets] → [Wallet Transfer] → Spot → Unified / Derivatives.

Transfers are free and instant, and you can move funds back the other way any time. As a beginner, keep only a small portion in the derivatives wallet to limit accidental losses.

03

Open the futures screen

Once the transfer is done, jump to the trading screen.

  • Top menu [Derivatives] → [USDT Perpetual]
  • Beginners: start with BTCUSDT or ETHUSDT — deepest liquidity, minimal slippage.
  • Left of the chart: buy (Long) / sell (Short) order panel
  • Right of the chart: order book, recent trades, positions, orders
  • Switch timeframes at the top (15m / 1h / 4h) to read the trend.
04

Set leverage

Leverage is set at the top of the order panel. Bybit supports up to 100×, but higher leverage brings the liquidation price extremely close to entry — a small adverse move can wipe out the margin.

  • Beginners: 3–5× (an amount you can hold through drawdowns)
  • Intermediate: 10–20× (always with a stop-loss)
  • Up to 100× available (effectively gambling — not recommended)
  • Margin mode: use Isolated — losses stay confined to that position's margin instead of eating other funds.
💡 Position sizing matters more than the leverage number. In a 1,000 USDT account, 100 USDT at 10× and 200 USDT at 5× carry almost identical real risk. Keep the risk on any trade to 2–5% of the account.
05

Choose order type & enter

In the middle of the order panel, pick your order type, size and direction.

  • Limit: your chosen price — fills slower but pays the cheaper Maker fee.
  • Market: fills instantly at market — pays the higher Taker fee.
  • Enter size (USDT or contracts), then click Long (Buy) or Short (Sell).
  • Double-check liquidation price, required margin and estimated fees in the confirmation.
06

Stop-loss (SL) & take-profit (TP)

Tick the TP/SL box at the bottom of the order panel to set them at entry. You won't need to watch the market — overnight and work-hour crashes stop hurting.

  • SL: about -1 to -2% from entry (with 5× leverage, that keeps risk under 2% of account)
  • TP: at least the SL distance (risk-reward ≥ 1:2)
  • You can adjust either from the [Positions] tab at any time
  • Once in profit, move SL to entry (break-even) to remove the loss possibility.
⚠️ Entering without a stop is gambling. Set SL, TP and size before entering and execute the plan. Moving the stop emotionally is where accounts die.
07

Manage & close positions

Manage everything from the [Positions] tab in real time.

  • Live PnL, liquidation price, ROI
  • Partial close: enter part of the size to lock in profit in stages
  • Full close: [Market Close] closes the position instantly
  • In heavy profit, trail the stop upward to protect gains.
08

Fees and rebate tracking

20% of every fee is auto-settled the next day at 00:00 UTC and deposited to [Rewards Hub]. No claim required — move it to your spot wallet or reuse it as margin instantly.

[Rewards Hub] → [My Rewards] → Affiliate Rebate shows the daily history, exportable to CSV for accounting.
